Spurs Gaffer Takes The Chelsea Praise According To This Man

|

Tottenham Hotspur’s fantastic victory over Chelsea on Saturday evening set Spurs fans hearts racing for a variety of reasons.

The 3-1 scoreline with goals coming from Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min gave fans plenty to celebrate although it was a slight disappointment to see us lose the clean sheet as Olivier Giroud hit late on.

The performance itself was more akin to what we expect under manager Mauricio Pochettino as well as all season long we’ve ground out results without overly being on top of a match, and although Chelsea had more of the ball they didn’t do much with it and we dominated everywhere else where it mattered.

Speaking to Sky Sports England man Alli passed all of the praise onto the gaffer, saying his gameplan and ‘amazing’ tactics were the Stamford Bridge outfits undoing.

“A lot of it was the work we did tactically. On the front foot, pushing up high. I think, working with Poch, you know how good he is. He’s an amazing manager tactically.”

Alli went on to talk about the rotation system under Poch, keeping people fresh whilst at the same time letting the squad know they remain in his plans and everyone knows their role and their responsibilities for when they get the call.

Given how tough we have been to beat this year, even though we haven’t been at our attacking best, clearly the training pitch work has come to the fore apart from odd moments, but you can never have perfection.

With a big week of football for the club, a midweek Champions League clash against Inter Milan before Arsenal away next weekend, I’m sure plenty will be pleased with Alli talking about maintaining that type of performance as ‘our level’ now and continuing to show further improvements to make a largely decent season even better in the months to come.
