Spurs fans sent into meltdown as Pedro Porro deal faces collapse

|

Well…after seeming as if the Pedro Porro transfer saga was finally coming to an end, it now seems that the deal may collapse at the last hurdle.

The 23-year-old was due at Hotspur Way today for a medical and to finalise the last terms of the deal but Sporting have thrown a spanner in the works at the last minute.

That is according to Gary Jacobs who states that the Portuguese outfit have refused to sign off a final agreement over administration fees – with them wanting Spurs to pay around £2.6 million to cover the cost of payment methods to administer the deal.

The deal looked to be all set and done after Porro waved goodbye to Sporting fans yesterday, following his sides 2-0 defeat to Porto in the Portuguese League Cup final. Sporting’s stubbornness however looks set to ruin Porro’s ambitions of playing in the Premier League.

This news has sent the Spurs fanbase into absolute anarchy this morning with former Tottenham midfielder and now pundit Jamie O’Hara telling talkSPORT:

“If that’s the case, then Daniel Levy needs to get out of Tottenham. If we don’t get this signing over the line then the fans will go mental,”

“It will not be good for him [Levy]. Spurs fans wanted this player and has taken ages to get done.

“If it doesn’t get done and we’re stuck with Emerson Royal until the end of the season, I might as well not bother going to watch them.”

Despite many stating the deal is off, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided the Spurs faithful with some good news as he stated the Lilywhites are still working to resolve the issues and get the deal over the line.

Sporting may well have stuck a spanner in the last minute machinations of a deal which appears to have been agreed and gone through, only to be scuppered so close to the deadline. However it is clear that Tottenham have had weeks to negotiate a deal with the Portuguese club, and as per the usual ‘Levy’ Hallmark have procrastinated till the very last in the hopes it would seem of negotiating a better bargain price, this is what he does and why we so often fail to land those players desired rather than opting on inferior second or third ….choices. Levy’s seemingly hardball approach to transfers to others alternatively I would argue would appear miserly, difficult and niggling to his counterparts at other clubs and you may wonder if he is not somewhat despised in these quarters. Irrespective of that, it is certain that the majority of Tottenham fans reflectively are long past understanding his instance to adhere to such abject ‘ideologies/strategies’ when pursuing new talent. It clearly isn’t working and most likely before long another disillusioned manager will exit in one way or another on the back of these shortcomings, as the nonsensical Levygoround continues to flounder round and round and round!
