Spurs eyeing swoop for French midfielder – amid ongoing chaos at Italian giants

|

The chaos and uncertainty that is currently brewing at Italian giants Juventus – which culminated in the entire board of directors resigning on Monday – has led to Europe’s top clubs being drawn to the club’s top stars.

Juventus’ financial crisis means they will likely have to offload a number of their players in January – with the club likely having to accept lower fees than they once would have done.

One of the Juventus players that is attracting a lot of interest is Adrien Rabiot. According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham are one of several clubs said to be interested in securing the Frenchman’s signature.

Rabiot of course was heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United (via the Manchester Evening News) in the summer, but the move collapsed to Rabiot not fancying the switch.

The Frenchman has not let the disappointment of his failed move affect his form this season, with the midfielder being a rare bright spot in a pretty disappointing season for Juventus. Rabiot – who is also attracting interest from London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal (CalcioMercato)- has contributed to seven goals so far this season (five goals and two assists) also scoring a goal and assist in France’s World Cup opener against Australia.

So, would Rabiot be a worthwhile signing for Spurs?

The midfielder’s contract is set to expire next summer, so the Lilywhites may be able to bag the Juventus star for a bargain fee – with a sum of £15 million pounds likely to tempt Juventus into a sale.

Rabiot would likely act as competition for both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, but some fans may wonder whether Spurs actually need more midfield cover – with other areas like wing-back needing more urgent improvement.
