Spurs eye “outstanding” 23-cap international who tackles more than Aurier – Report

|

According to a report from TUTTOmercatoWEB, Tottenham could be considering a potential swap deal with Juventus in order to land star full-back Alex Sandro in the summer – with Serge Aurier or Danny Rose tipped to be going the other way.

Sandro, who has started 22 Serie A games for the Turin side this season, is currently at the centre of Spurs’ interest as we scour the market for full-back reinforcements – with both Timothy Castagne and Thomas Meunier also being linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 29-year-old defender was once dubbed the ‘heir’ to Roberto Carlos by none other than the man himself in an interview with Italian outlet Tuttosport back in 2015.

Would Alex Sandro be a good fit under Mourinho?

Yes, proven defender

No, getting a bit old

Now, almost half a decade later, Sandro could be on his way to north London if both Spurs and Juventus could figure out a swap deal between Aurier and the Brazilian.

Accumulating 23 international caps for Brazil since his debut in 2011, Sandro is arguably proven at the highest levels in world football, especially going by his impressive stats from this season.

According to WhoScored, Sandro has managed more tackles than Aurier on average this campaign in the Champions League and more than any other Spurs player in the competition bar Harry Winks.

As well as this, only Moussa Sissoko and Winks have bettered his passing accuracy, with Sandro managing a noteworthy 87% success rate out from the back this campaign in Serie A.

Dubbed as ‘outstanding‘, could the left-back become one of Spurs’ new recruits for the 2019/2020 season? Judging by his accolades, we could certainly do worse.
