Spurs enquired about PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa as potential Danny Rose replacement

Tottenham reportedly enquired to PSG about the availability of left-back Layvin Kurzawa this summer.

L’Equipe report via Sport Witness that Spurs were interested in the French international as a potential replacement for Danny Rose, who looked likely to leave the club during the transfer window after turning up at Watford’s training ground on deadline day to push a late move through, however, nothing materialised (as per the Sun).

The report states that PSG, who can conduct business until the 31st August, were open to selling Kurzawa for around €15m (£13.9m) if a suitable offer came in, but it appears that the reasoning behind Tottenham’s lack of action beyond a simple enquiry was due to their inability to ship Rose off.

Rose was left out of Spurs’ squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, with Tottenham’s official website stating via the Guardian that this was because it granted the player ‘additional time off in order to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs’.

The English international did return to the squad, though, after no bids were made as Rose was recalled into the team for Tottenham’s Audi Cup squad, a pre-season tournament that Mauricio Pochettino’s side won after beating Bayern Munich on penalties.

And now it seems like the prospect of Rose leaving the club is likely to be put off until the January window or perhaps not happen at all as the 29-year-old started for Spurs in their opening Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa, with the former Leeds man playing the entire 90 minutes.

With Ben Davies only just returning to first-team training from injury, it is likely that Rose will keep his starting spot in the starting XI until the first international break of the season in September, giving the Tottenham defender plenty of time to show to Pochettino why he deserves a spot in the squad following a summer of uncertainty.
