Spurs edging closer to signing £150k-per-week midfielder – report

|

Spurs are edging towards signing Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis, according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, though there is still a way to go until he signs.

The report suggests Spurs and Betis have been in discussion about the deal for weeks and while an agreement hasn’t yet been reached, the two clubs are making an effort to get the deal sorted.

Real Betis are looking to get €70 million for their Argentinian midfielder, despite having set the price at €40 million in May, as reported by Estadio Deportivo.

However, Spurs aren’t keen to pay that sum, having already broken the club’s transfer record fee to sign Tanguy Ndombele, as well as adding Jack Clarke before loaning him back to Leeds United.

Despite not having reached an agreement with the La Liga side, Spurs have done so with Lo Celso, with it set in place that the Argentina international will get £150,000-per-week.

This should, in theory, mean that once a deal is struck between the two clubs, it shouldn’t be too long until Lo Celso is holding up a Spurs shirt.

After making a move from PSG, the midfielder started 27 La Liga matches for Betis last season, coming on five times, contributing nine goals and four assists.
