With Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose almost ruled out by manager Mauricio Pochettino ahead of tonight’s Champions League Round of 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund at Wembley, we did have options boosted somewhat by the return of Eric Dier and Erik Lamela during the week to training and Rose appeared amongst the substitutes in any event.
Confidence was high ahead of the tie when it came to taking advantage in the home game of the doubleheader and despite the press indicating that Harry Kane could return for this one, as expected, he wasn’t in the matchday squad.
He wasn’t needed either as despite Jordan Sancho’s big words ahead of the game, Spurs were quickly in cruise control and established a comfortable 3-0 victory with goals coming from Son Heung-Min, Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente.
Okay, all three goals came in the second half with two being in the final ten minutes, but we did Dortmund Borussia and short of a complete capitulation in the second leg, this is job done surely?
