Tottenham Hotspur have beaten the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea to land 17-year-old striker Alexander Olsen.

The youngster has already been compared to compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and impressed Martin Jol during a trial spell at Spurs some months ago.

‘The deal was done on Saturday,’ Gjovik chairman Arve Hansen told eurosport.com, going on to say the marksman signed terms for just over one million Norwegian crowns (£80,000).

‘We received a fax from Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich as well,’ Hansen explained.

  • Nice work Comolli if it’s true… will reserve judgement until the Official Site has something to say about it…

  • Well, would you want to play for the club that buys the best players and then ruins them – i.e. SWP?? Well done lad for choosing the Spurs – the best team to develop young talent.

  • Another world beating kid to add to the group and all strikers!!! Pekhart, Dixon and now Olsen! if one of them makes it big i’ll be VERY happy!!!

  • Even if only 1 in 3 comes through it’ll be good. Plus Pekhart and Olsen will need a little time to adapt to living in a different country

  • Its the same with all youth development. How many wonderkids are signed every season, not just with spurs, but how many make it to even the first team. you just have to look at our first team squad as an example.

  • From our First team squad (as on the official web site) only ledley king is a first team regular others lee barnard(3 games) phil ifil(2) jamie ohara(0) charlie lee(0) are players coming thru our accademy without a fee. to be fair to spurs since arnessen we have been playing catch up with the likes of arsenal with youth development ans are making great strides in this departmrnt with the purchaces of lennon, huddlestone etc. I can only hope the additions of olsen, pekhart and the likes will prove of equel success.

  • Surely his next target will be a ‘very, very smart’ youngster who plays at the core of the greatest team we’ve seen in years – Jose PlusTen from the adidas TV ads. Probably has his eyes on Comolli’s job someday.

  • One of the best things about Spurs at the mo is it’s growing reputation for nuturing young talent. The fact Chelsea and Arsenal do it so badly really plays in to our hands.
