Spurs battle CL giants for 21 y/o prodigy who shoots more than Kane – Report

|

According to an update from Italian journalist Diego De Luca via Area Napoli, Tottenham and Liverpool are going head to head over Lille striker Victor Osimhen – with both clubs thought to have lodged a €70 million (£62.7 million) for the player.

Osimhen, who has scored 13 goals and assisted four others in 25 Ligue 1 starts this season, is considered a real prospect for the future and even once caught Spurs manager Jose Mourinho’a attention.

As per Nigerian outlet tvc news, Mourinho watched on during Lille’s 2-2 draw with Nimes back in October 2019 – where Osimhen rescued a point for his side with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Should Spurs sign Osimhen for £62.7m?

Yes, absolute world beater

No, far too much for Levy

The Portuguese boss was apparently impressed with Osimhen, so much that Spurs have now offered a £62.7 million fee in order to secure his services according to journalist De Luca.

His impressive tally of 18 goals in all competitions could also be a huge factor in convincing Mourinho to register an interest, but if Spurs want the prodigy, they may have to battle Champions League giants and league leaders Liverpool who are also in the hunt.

According to WhoScored, Osimhen has averaged more shots per game than any Spurs player domestically this season, including star striker Harry Kane.

This could indicate that the youngster would be a more-than suitable back-up, with Kane having suffered through various fitness issues over 2019/2020.

The 6ft forward has also won a superior number of aerial duels over the entire Spurs squad, but whether or not Levy will beat Liverpool to his signature remains to be seen.
