Spurs At The European Championships Thread

|

After a long, hard and ultimately disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur, we have a busy summer in store now as we look to both sort out our managerial situation as well as strengthen the group via the transfer market – as massive question being Harry Kane’s own future.

Whilst we’ll hopefully have our new manager in within a few weeks (or maybe our old manager given the Mauricio Pochettino rumours) it’s unlikely much will happen on a transfer front until we see the culmination of this summers European Championship competition.

In a world still dealing with Covid, personally, I think international football is slightly ridiculous at this moment in time, but money makes the world go round doesn’t it – Spurs fans will however have a natural interest in the tournament given the players and former players that should be on show.

If nothing else it’ll be a distraction for a few weeks – so anything Euro related can go in here VSers.

We can complain about levy / enic but…. there is not really anything we can do about their ownership of spurs. Joe may have accepted the 50% sale Levy did not, so there we have it, spurs are Levy’s baby and he will not let go of his project. Sacking jose days before the League Cup final was a bad move, players were not motivated Ryan had no idea how to win a cup final as manager and we lost. No matter what we say, it won’t make any difference, DH said he answers to no one, and this is could be why he brought spurs into private ownership.

So… we can support the players and new manager and see how we progress, as being negative and hostile to a new manager will not see spurs progress from the troubles of last season. COYS

As supporters that’s all we can do………support, and hope for the best!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

…But, as I keep seeing on here and elsewhere. We moan, are seriously lacking in our support, and constantly predict the worst!

  • PompeyYid says:

TQ2S, me and mine are doing fine, thanks for asking, I ask the same where you and yours are concerned, much appreciation is had of your asking.

To a degree I am with Jod on his post regards the slagging off of Moaninio, Fonseca(Fonzy to me) and Conti, that all are very quick to nay say, but so bloody slow in saying whom they feel would be good or an ideal fit for the job as coach at Spurs.

I said previously if “the Fonz” does get the job, I will be behind him until I think differently, and even then I could quite easily be wrong! because sometimes we fans jump before looking how deep it is lol! COYS

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Thanks PY we are all well thanks.

HT…..I can’t really agree with your summing up in so far as I believe we all support our club but rightly question the decisions being made at higher management level which affect our ability to achieve success, being supportive and being critical aren’t mutually exclusive.

It’s fair to say though that, as supporters, we have various views on how we measure success!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I’m not referring to you TQ. Or indeed everyone. Of course not… But there is a distinctive lack of support being shown from many Spurs supporters right across the board…

A lot of ‘un-constructive’ criticism and slagging off is definitely going on… It’s nothing new!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

HT…..it’s true to say that there are a few that would find something to moan about even if we won the quadruple! :- )

  • wentworth says:

It’s looking a lot like Fonseca our 9th choice. Will he be able to bring the exciting, attacking football?
Will he be able to have a big clear out? Will he be able to keep Levy’s nose out?
Will he be able to make some decent signings?
Will he be able to keep Kane and Son?
Will he be able to create some much needed young talent?
Will. He be able to take the fans with?

Massive task ahead after this interview. Mr Fonseca, we would like to offer you the job. Do you accept it?

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Anyone watch the opening Euro match last night?

I thought Italy looked very impressive… Turkey though, were pretty poor.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Yes HT, Italy were indeed very impressive as a team, not just individually. While they were dominating the play it did take an own goal to open up the Turkish defence for the first goal. It was very obvious that the Italians are in superb physical condition, there’s not an ounce of fat among the outfield players, on the other hand many of the Turks looked done before they got two thirds of the way through the game.

Looking forward to the Wales game at 2pm, must remember it’s supposed to be in UHD on BBC iPlayer.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    This afternoon I will be a Welshman…

C’mon Gareth, Ben, Joe and all! … Isn’t it?

Later, I will be ever so slightly Belgian… C’mon Toby!

But tomorrow, I will be a full-blooded Englishman! C’mon ‘Arry!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Likewise HT but I’m currently a Gull watching Torquay in th NL play-off semi and will also be an Indian Chief watching Exeter v Sale in the rugby at 3pm!

  • Niall D says:

Yep folks it’s, sort of good being from these islands as you get at least a couple of bites at the cherry so to speak. With the Welsh the Scots and the English all playing over the weekend and getting my full support,
The Itillains look the the old Spain team of about 5 years ago with lots of possession based football, high intensity almost playing like a club side, but it’s hard to judge against such a team as Turkey whose performance looked lack lustre, or did the Itallians make them look bad.
Love Chialinni he always looks like an extra from the Godfather.

  • jod says:

BelgianSpur – As far as Pochettino goes its an odd one. Normally I would say he’d be fired. But firstly PSG won’t want to lose a second manager so quickly after Tuchel so he’s probably got a season to redeem himself. The second thing is if what we are reading about Pochettino’s relationship with PSG is true he’s probably welcome being sacked and his contract paid off.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Jod – I have said many times who I thought our new manager should be. It is in several of my previous posts. I also did not slag off Conte. Other than that great post as always Jod!!

  • 62rovinella says:

Makes no damn difference who comes in as manager or director if they are not afforded the chance to strengthen the squad and get rid of some of these lazy so and so’s who don’t care about the badge…. Let’s wait and see…… What is ever straight forward at spurs other than Levy’s bonus 🤔🤔🤔

  • TQ2Spurs says:

OMG……Eriksen badly injured, medics doing chest compressions on him on the pitch!!!!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Maybe not injured….just collapsed, really doesn’t look good!!!!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Please God let him be ok.

  • Geofspurs says:

Shocking news regarding Christian Eriksen. I hope he’s okay but it doesn’t look good. I think the games is called off. It really doesn’t look good!
