Spurs Aren’t After Stop Gaps In January, So Why Would We Be Interested In Barcelona Youngster

|

With Tottenham Hotspur still looking to finally click in the campaign of 2019/20 and get ourselves up and running in a manner we have become used to under manager Mauricio Pochettino, January transfer rumours continue to come thick and fast and we are now being linked with a potential move for Barcelona youngster Carles Alena.

Speculation about the 21-year-old midfielder isn’t entirely new at Spurs, but with him only having a handful of appearances for Barca so far this year, reports in Spain have again suggested he’ll be offered up for loan in the New Year, and we are one of the main clubs linked with having an interest in him.

As the report states, it’s believed that Pochettino personally watched the player last season with his agent, and that he’s been a long term admirer and his record for Barcelona B is pretty impressive – however, with talk of a £65million release fee, I wouldn’t say his stats are that impressive.

Should Spurs Loan Alena?

Yes

No

With a loan deal seeming to be the preferred option here though, it’s said there would be no option to buy so I fail to see why or how we’d be interested on that basis, as we shouldn’t be after stop gaps that benefit others – despite our struggles in the opening half of the year.
