Spurs and Arsenal – Feeder Clubs!?

Our very own Tottenham legend Chris Waddle has backed the club over it’s stance with Dimitar Berbatov by retiterating that he should be banned from ‘spitting the dummy out’ and walking out this summer.

Speaking in the Daily Express Waddle interestingly outlined what he thought could be a workable solution to solve the problem of players such as Berbatov and Ronaldo simply abandoning long contracts in order to take up more lucrative offers waved in front of them.

Chris believes that it should be made compulsory for players to honour their contracts if they are playing in at least 75% of the games in which they are available for selection.

His opinion is, that unless some form of action is taken, the same scenario could happen next year at Spurs in relation to Luka Modric, if the club fails to qualify for Europe and Modric himself has an exceptional season.

Waddle also cited the fact that Robbie Keane, after having an outstanding 18 months, was quickly and effortlessly lured to Liverpool, while Arsenal, even though having qualified for the Champion’s League, find themselves still struggling to keep hold of their players.

He fervently holds the view that unless something is done promptly it could reduce both Tottenham and Arsenal to the role of mere feeder clubs for football’s rich and powerful.
