Exciting wonderkid Pape Matar Sarr, who has been likened to Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, will sign for Spurs this Summer but stay on-loan at his current club FC Metz for the next season.
🇸🇳 Six months after his debut in Europe, 18 year old Pape Sarr is already attracting interest from some of football’s elite.

The fee will be in the region of €15 million, a bargain for a player who the club believes will be a superstar in a few years time, but also a mainstay in the Spurs midfield as the team goes through a rebuild phase.
Sarr, a teenage Senegalese international, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United as well as a few other clubs in the Premier League and across Europe, before agreeing a move to North London.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough season last year with the French club, where he played 22 Ligue 1 games and scored three goals, as well as playing three games in the French Cup and finding the net once.
He can play all over in the central midfield areas, as a box-to-box midfielder, a number eight or even as a number ten right behind the striker, and despite his tender age he has already shown he can be a dominating figure on the pitch.
A lighting quick interceptor of the ball, comparisons have also been drawn to N’Golo Kante for the way he glides around the pitch winning possession and driving the team upfield.

Sarr’s numbers are actually better than Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s in key areas for the central midfield position – however with the league he is playing in being significantly weaker than the Premier League, this shouldn’t be read into too much in terms of doubting the Dane’s ability.
However, Sarr’s statistics do prove that he is a very exciting talent, and more is definitely to come from him this season.
He is expected to sign a contract that lasts until 2026, and will continue his development at Metz this season where he will receive first team football in one of Europe’s top leagues.
