Southampton Legend Predicts Good Season For Spurs If This Man Stays Fit

|

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has been giving his thoughts on how he thinks the final Premier League table of 2018/19 will finish come the end of the season, and he believes Tottenham Hotspur will be in the top four – but with one caveat.

Christian Eriksen can’t be out for too long given his current injury.

With the Danish national gaffer claiming or being misquoted as saying he has a ‘chronic issue’ with him missing the last three games for us with an abdominal problem, that was quickly refuted as all fans will be keenly aware by now, but unless I’ve missed something, no exact timeframe for a return has yet been placed on the 26-year-old’s head.

Giving his thoughts to Sky Sports this week, Le Tissier did feel it would make or break our top four position if he remained out for too long.

“I think I will go with Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs for the top four as long as Christian Eriksen doesn’t spend to long out of the team, because I think Tottenham miss him quite a bit. Manchester United have got some ground to make up if they are going to be in contention.”

It’s easy to see why he’s come to that conclusion given Eriksen’s importance to us but it does appear the initial concern about the severity of his injury was overstated, so with a rough fortnight to recover, let’s kick on from there and see if we can better his prediction.
