With news of further stadium delays following the redesign of White Hart Lane this summer and the potential that Tottenham Hotspur will continue to play games at Wembley Stadium into 2019, the reactions have been wide and varied on social media.
As said for me, despite knowing some won’t agree, it’s a story whipped up by the media for the typical ‘doom and gloom’ response that football fans are prone to when living in the moment. Nowt wrong with that, we all have our trigger points, this just isn’t one for me.
Safety concerns always have to win out when it comes to building work and even the best-planned projects are always subject to snagging and wriggle room and that’s only magnified when you look at building a stadium with over 1000 workers at all times beavering away on something. It’s not like we’re rebuilding a cupboard, replacing a kitchen or adding an extension!
There were some valid points made by fans though as they took to the interweb to voice their frustrations.
Absolutely bang on mate. The radio silence is utterly pathetic. I think most would of accepted it if they were transparent and said it would be very tight and we'd keep everyone abreast of changes, etc.

I have an issue with it because they have taken our season ticket money, put it in their account earning interest and then will pay back in dribs and drabs over the course of 3 months. That journey to Wembley is a ball-ache and we should have been informed.

Everyone's covered it pretty well on here so all I will say is as a new ST holder, required in no uncertain terms to pay 2400 for 2 seats – I've been done good and proper by Levy. It took the daily mirror and the sun to force his hand as well. Tinpot as it gets. #THFC

As a senior manager in construction, I totally understand that things can and do go wrong daily which cause delays however the lack of communication has again been shocking! Only a FULL REFUND, and not credit, will begin to save face now! @SpursOfficial do the right thing. #THFC

I did not pay nearly £1500 for a season ticket to have to make that poxy journey to and from Wembley for the next couple of months ???????????????????? #THFC #Tottenham #Wembley

100% agree with Lee here. Surely season ticket holders are due some form of compensation. Also where is the compensation for fans that put up with a whole season at Wembley? Also what is happening with £££ earned from non football events at the new WHL ?

This season is becoming more and more of a write off. So much unsettling going on from the board, fans getting restless due to being left in the dark, so many away games to play, fixtures getting changed around all over the place. Players must find it annoying. I would #THFC

As mentioned by a few fans. I don't want club credit, @SpursOfficial you failed to deliver so I want a a full on cash refund, some heavily discounted Wembley tickets and some serious grovelling #fuming #thfc

most people accept delays happen but this has been handled so badly it's a disgrace, people have made plans around these games being at WHL, plus I can't get away from the feeling the club knew this a long time ago. Mostly I feel for the ST holders #COYS #THFC

Communication could certainly have been better, I don’t think anyone would or could argue differently. This didn’t creep up overnight and even if some fans expected delays, it’s not for fans to expect – confirmation could’ve come earlier and had it done so, with a proper explanation, I think reactions would’ve been more tempered as the club would’ve been up front and not open to claims the tabloids forced them into admitting it.
It would’ve counted for something.
