Sissoko set for surprise move to Italian giants

|

French midfielder Moussa Sissoko is set to be shown the exit door this summer, as Fabio Paratici plans the rebuild of the Spurs team with the aim to not just compete for trophies, but to win them.

With his close friend Serge Aurier also looking for a move elsewhere, Sissoko is keen for a fresh start as he approaches the twilight of his career, and the club are keen to move him on to clear a bit of space on the wage budget as well as raise funds for future transfers.

Earlier this month, Sissoko told the press that he was open to moves elsewhere, saying: “Now, I am a person who does not close any doors. If a new challenge presents itself, we will see what I do. But today, I do not close any doors concerning my future, because as I said, it was a difficult year for me at the club.”

Italian giants Napoli are believed to be extremely interested at the prospect of signing the former Newcastle player, who is currently on international duty with France at the European Championships.

However, the cash-strapped club are struggling to come up with £10 million to sign Sissoko, and they’re even struggling to raise £7 million to sign their alternate target Morten Thorsby – who is a priority target for Spurs’ London rivals West Ham.

Daniel Levy is believed to be willing to give Paratici the green light and sanction a loan deal which would see Sissoko head to Naples for the next season, but it is not yet clear whether or not a mandatory future fee will be involved or exactly how much the cost of the loan would be.

Spurs could also wait a little longer too, as interest is expected to grow in the midfielder with another unnamed Italian club reportedly interested in the midfielder.

While Paratici is actively looking to improve the squad, it isn’t likely that a like for like replacement will be brought into the team, as Oliver Skipp will likely remain at the club for next season after impressing on-loan at Championship winners Norwich City with some phenomenal performances.
