Should Spurs Bring This Star Home Over The Summer (Not Bale)

|

33-year-old Croatian international and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric needs little introduction at Tottenham Hotspur.

Having come into the club back in the summer of 2008 for a reported £16.6million, he went on to play in well over 100 games for the club and forged plenty of memories along the way before he disappointingly made the switch out to the Santiago Bernabeu for roughly double his initial fee.

His success since making the move both in terms of club level and international level, speak for themselves and he’s again been a regular in the Real side this season, but the common consensus, at least amongst the Spanish press, is that he’s struggled for form this year and a poor season by his own standards.

A recent report from outlet AS (via Sky Sports) has suggested that manager Zinedine Zidane may now be willing to let last season’s Ballon d’Or winner move on this summer.

Now we all know that Christian Eriksen has long been rumoured to be headed in that direction this summer, and those reports certainly haven’t gone away, and there have been plenty of suggestions implying that we may try and do a deal that sees Gareth Bale head home in the opposite direction as part of any transfer.

But I can’t be alone in thinking that if Modric is available, that would certainly be a statement of intent and go a long way to tempering any disappointment if Eriksen does actually move on.

Maybe more of a pipe dream though?
