The club are confident of warding off Real Madrid and Barcelona and securing Christian Eriksen to a new contract, according to ESPN.
Two sports publications in Spain, Marca and Sport, have reported the La Liga duo’s interest in the Danish international in recent days, but it seems we expect the playmaker to stay.
Fans on Twitter were reassured by the reports that our no.23 will be remaining at the club:
Hopefully this, plus his new contract, should quieten down all the panicking fans who for whatever reason believed Marca and were seriously contemplating him leaving…

The only contract rumour I’m confident of at the moment

Not too bothered to be honest. If we had a good transfer policy, he’d be replaceable.

Verdict:
The link to Real Madrid was always a thin one anyway with Marca indicating that the Dane was only a long-term target. Barca’s interest was said to be more concrete with Sport reporting he was the club’s main alternative to Antoine Griezmann.
However, Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar says that Eriksen would find it “impossible” to leave the club this summer, and has very little interest in doing so. That news will be greeted warmly by every Spurs fan, and hopefully, the ESPN report is right, and contract talks to secure the 26-year-old long-term are close to a conclusion.
