Martin Jol was at my brother – in Law’s Italian Restaurant last night and watched the Semi-Final. (Also, strangley, Ramon Vega was with Martin Jol last night!!!) I hope he’s retired, please, don’t return!!
Jol is a regular at the restaurant. I called my Brother in law up and asked him to ask Jol, if Carrick is staying or not.
Martin Jol replied ‘I don’t know. Football is a money business’.
Although this is an open answer, it suggests that Carrick will go if the money is right, which also suggests that Carrick is keen on leaving.
Jol’s stance appears to be slightly different to a few weeks ago when he said that Carrick is staying. Possibly the signing of Zakora has made him feel a bit more comfortable about the situation.
With the way Jenas reacted to speculation linking him with a move, and the fact that many of our key players have signed new contracts, this must mean the end of Michael Carrick in a Tottenham shirt.
I for one, will be very sad to see him go. He was probably our best player last season and looked better and better as the season went on. (Although he can’t take corners or free kicks).
I think we should keep him, and try and pursuade him to stay in the two years he is contracted to.
The problem we have, is that if we do try and keep him, we may lose him for next to nothing next year, or on a free in two years – (possibly to Arsenal!!!).
Should we do all we can to keep him, or should we just let him go?
