Napoli are interested in signing Mousa Dembele, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via

The Italian newspaper reports the Partenopei’s new head coach Carlo Ancelotti was dining with super agent Kia Joorabchian in London when he mentioned he was targeting the Belgian international.

The 30-year-old is also attracting interest from another Italian club with the Corriere Dello Sport (via Calciomercato) stating that Inter Milan have put the midfielder on a list of targets.

Dembele’s agent Tom de Mul spoke about his client’s future last week. It seems that things will likely be resolved after the World Cup, with no new deal having been agreed to stay with us.

The Belgian’s current contract expires in 2019, and reports in numerous newspapers have suggested we will look to offload him in the summer.

Last campaign, Dembele played 39 times in all competitions but it seems the club are willing to trade him in for a younger model.

  • Dembele is a master of possession. However he is NOT a playmaker as constant passing to the wings/fullbacks is not playmaking. His major fault is that he is simply not creative enough. how many through balls have you seen or looped passes over the CDs etc.? Virtually none. Add this to his fragility and we can surely do better. We need Winks more than Dembele.
BTW whatever happened to the striker Moussa Dembele at Celtic? Maybe he is worth a punt.

  • As long as Jorginho is part of the deal I wouldn’t mind seeing Dembele go there, at least it wouldn’t be one of our rivals we’d be strengthening.

  • Dembele must be tempted to play for a top class trophy winning manager. If he does Join Napoli it will be interesting to see where Ancelotti plays him, as i have always seen Dembele as a Dm. Time will tell, he’ll probably go there and start winning trophies like Walker.

  • These Italian clubs just see him on his last year and think they can steel him for next to nothing. I’d be suprised if any of them get close to the price tag.

  • Dembele is fast approaching his sell by date, he runs down Cul de sacs, doesn’t play enough telling forward passes for assists, contributes almost zero goal threat and is growing increasingly fragile with age. If we can get a half decent fee for him I say sell and invest in a younger more dynamic and potential game changing MFer. We already have Dier, Wanyama and Winks to sort the DMFer requirements.

  • Will…you ask if MD of Celtic is worth a punt, seriously do you think he would sign for Spurs to play second fiddle behind “Our Arry”, somehow I don’t think so. COYS

Our own MD I think most of the posts have got him well covered, as has been said to me he is a DM but we are well covered in that position, if he wants to go so be it, last big pay day, though I would like to see him stay. COYS
