Tottenham have a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer if they are to put this wretched season behind them and start afresh under Jose Mourinho next term.
In order to progress, it can be argued that strengthening the defence must be our priority. It is an area we have neglected somewhat over recent windows, opting instead to add attacking players like Steven Bergwijn and Giovani Lo Celso.
However, that could all change under Mourinho, as the club has reportedly targeted Benfica defender Ruben Dias.
The centre-back is still only 22 but has experience playing in the Champions League and the Europa League, which shows he has talent that the Portuguese boss could nurture, so he could potentially act as a long-term successor to Jan Vertonghen, whose contract is up in the summer.
Furthermore, he shares an agent with Mourinho in Jorge Mendes, and that potentially gives us an advantage when making a move to buy him.
Spurs fans are encouraged by the interest and have reacted with excitement at the prospect of bringing him into the club.

That signing would be absolutely perfect, just the sort of signing the club need. Back 3 with Tanganga and Sanchez potentially?
