Harry Kane has been named England skipper for the World Cup Finals in Russia next month.

The news was announced this morning and our no.10 took to Twitter to express his delight at being chosen by Gareth Southgate to lead the team out at the tournament:

Fans on Twitter were quick to congratulate Harry on the news:

Verdict:

Being the country’s most talented player, he will lead by example, and it’s great to see Harry being given the opportunity to captain the national team.

He seems the type of character that will take it in his stride, and hopefully, things will go well for him and the team. It will be a young team heading into the competition and at 24 years of age, the striker is by no means among the elder statesmen in the squad either.

I’m sure his past experience of major tournaments, and playing for us in the Champions League will hold him in good stead.
