‘RIP’ – These Arsenal fans don’t have much sympathy after Tottenham blow

|

We’re yet to be able to enjoy a North London derby so far this season, with Arsenal not set to meet Spurs until December, but it appears as though the game is already worth thinking about, as Tottenham may be missing a key man.

Tottenham have confirmed today that defender Jan Vertonghen is set to be out until December at the earliest. Indeed, the club are targeting a return to first team training by December, and you’d expect his match return to come shortly thereafter.

Unfortunately for us, we’re set to take on Arsenal on the 1st of December – meaning that it could come too soon for Jan. Given how important he is under Mauricio Pochettino, that could be a bit of a problem.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal fans don’t appear to be sending any flowers our way. Instead, they’ve been taking to Twitter to collectively laugh at the blow and the prospect that Vertonghen could miss the game.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…

Unsurprisingly, the Gooners aren’t being all that sympathetic. It would be a real shame to see us beat them without our Belgian defender, wouldn’t it?

Pochettino does have options in the defence, with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez the most obvious pairing, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the coming weeks.
