With plenty of speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur and England fullback Danny Rose with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, it now seems that the speculation was based on at least a few facts.

On Wednesday morning, the Official Site confirmed the squad that would be travelling for our pre-season International Champions Cup matches in Singapore and Shanghai and with manager Mauricio Pochettino selecting a mixed group when it came to experience and then youth, there were a couple of omissions that caught people’s attentions.

One was 29-year-old Rose and the following statement stood out.

“Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Danny Rose have been granted additional time off in order to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs.”

Jansson and Nkoudou certainly weren’t a surprise there, but plenty weren’t happy with the confirmation about Rose as he continues to have plenty of supporters at the club and they have long been against seeing him move on this summer.

With Kieran Trippier reportedly close to a move to Atletico Madrid for a claimed £25million, a similar fee has been bandied around about Rose, and a few thought that was too low as well.

If Poch is happy to let him go, he must be confident in his replacement.

  • One of Spurs best players last season
Not sure why he is going will leave them short in this area

  • Not one of us knows what’s going on behind the scenes. The manager sees what we all see on match days. The only difference is that he’s with the players every day, we are not. IMO, Danny Rose has far too much to say in public and that’s not only disrespectful to the manager and club but an embarrassment. Rose has been a rock more often than not and the club has stood by him for years through injury and loss of form but there comes a time to part company and move on. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again. I have every confidence in this manager and I’d have been pissed if Poch went but he didn’t so have faith in the man FFS, stand by him and stop moaning like wimps.

  • Love Danny Rose to bits comments and all. At his best he is an insanely talented defender. However there comes a time for all players to leave a club, and maybe now is the time for Danny. My biggest concern is nowTripps has left and should Toby and Danny go too, it rips out the very heart of our defence all in one go. That said I also love Foyth and Sanchez and Dier (who can defend)who are clearly the future and so we have to have faith in Poch. Didn’t he say this transfer window will be painful!!? Well with these 3 leaving it certainly tests even the most positive of fans doesn’t it?

  • I’m not fussed about Trippier leaving because we have plenty of cover in that position with Aurier, KWP and Foyte. Some people worry about Aurier but he is a powerful and talented footballer who will come good. Just look at where Moussa Sissoko was in comparrison to where his now in the eyes of us supporters and indeed outsiders. In the sort term regarding the left back position, we still have Davies (Rose is better) and Super Jan can fill that roll if need be. If it’s true that we are going after Ryan Sessignon of Fulham, I’d be more than happy. He’s a natural left back currently playing out of position as a winger and at 19 years of age, will only get better and better under Pochettino’s guidance. Incidentally, Danny Rose was a converted winger/midfielder in his youth at Leeds United.

  • Rose is injury prone can’t keep his mouth shut in the press. I totally get why we want rid of him. His best years are behind him.

I hope the Tierny rumours are true. He is a talented LB.
