Resurgent Spurs Star’s Future Doesn’t Depend On Pochettino

|

With Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko being many Spurs fans’ Player of the Year following the significant improvement he showed across the 2018/19 campaign, he’s established himself as a key member of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s side this year as we secured our top four spot and booked our place in the Champions League Final.

The 29-year-old was a big £30million buy from Newcastle United in the 2016/17 summer transfer window and it took the Frenchman a while to settle, but he has been reborn this year, much to both the surprise and delight of many.

Having now seen the best of him, fans are happy he’s got two years left on his deal before we start thinking about his future, but in a recent interview his choice of words gave headline writers a bit of a gift.

Speaking to Canal Football Club (via Football365, Sissoko said when questioned whether his own future would be dictated by Pochettino’s future, he explained.

“Not necessarily, I don’t know. At the end of the season, it could be that they have a new project, that a new coach comes, and he doesn’t count on me, he wants to sell me. Many different things could happen. But for the moment I feel good there, I am happy there. And in my head I have no thoughts of leaving.”

Cue the return of speculation about his future, no doubt.
