Reported Spurs Target Sets Himself A Demand For 2019/20 & It Complicates Our Interest

|

Speculation on the summer transfer rumour mill has long linked us with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, but there have certainly been contradictory claims when it comes to both his future at the Santiago Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane and whether or not we have a genuine interest in his services.

Rumoured Spurs Target Gives Loan Hope As He Comments On His Future

Depending on which reports you read, Ceballos has no future under Zidane and he’s already rejected a move to Italy, but others say Zidane is happy for a season out with an eye to next year. But if the latter claim is true, our interest would undoubtedly be as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen (hence the loan + cash suggestions as covered) but if there was no future for the 22-year-old at White Hart Lane, I don’t see that we’d be interested in a stop gap.

Speaking to outlet Marca whereever his future may lay, the player seems focused on making 40 appearances.

Again for me, I don’t see a demand like that (should it be made) working with manager Mauricio Pochettino and his preference for rotation.

“Yes, the most important thing in life is to be happy and that can only happen by playing 40 games a year. My personal goal for next season is to play 40 games and to be comfortable at all times. Wherever it is doesn’t matter, but it has to be a place where I can feel valued. I the moment I have no preferred choice. What I know is that I want to enjoy next year and that I’m open to new challenges. I’d like to try new things.”
