Report: Youngster ‘has undergone trial’ at Tottenham and ‘held talks’ over a deal

|

According to Wayne Veysey of the Football Insider, Charlie Allen ‘has undergone a trial’ at Tottenham and ‘held talks’ with the Lilywhites over a deal.

Chelsea are looking to snatch the 15-year-old from Spurs, however, and have asked Linfield about taking Allen on trial too. Manchester City are reportedly also showing an interest and had the wonderkid at the club for a brief period.

Allen is a highly-rated attacking-midfielder who made his debut for Linfield against Coleraine on April 27. He replaced Lorcan Forde in the 82nd minute as his side drew 1-1 at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Linfield Academy director Glenn Ferguson described him as “one of the brightest prospects” he has seen.

Tottenham were once leading the race for Allen’s signature, but Chelsea are now hijacking the deal and could snatch the teenager away. Linfield are hoping to cash in on his potential as they’re resigned to losing the 15-year-old, but his next destination is unknown.

Allen, who has already made five appearances for Northern Ireland u17s, could soon be weighing up offers from Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City, but time will tell where he ends up in the coming months.
