Report: Watford ‘showing interest’ in £60k-per-week Tottenham man who ‘could yet leave’

|

According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Watford are ‘showing interest’ in Danny Rose and could make a late bid for Tottenham’s £60k-per-week defender. The Daily Mail believe Spurs are keen to keep Rose this summer, but they say the left-back ‘could yet leave’ if Ryan Sessegnon joins.

Watford are hoping to capitalise on Rose’s situation and want to bring him to Vicarage Road, but time is running out for them to make a move – the window shuts at 5pm. Whether Rose is keen to join the Hornets remains to be seen, however, as Watford finished 11th last season and won’t be in any European competition this campaign.

The 29-year-old previously spoke out about the likelihood of him leaving due to Tottenham’s policy for selling ageing players, but he was willing to stay if the project didn’t appeal to him. Rose had interest from Juventus in July, so would he really consider Watford a good career move?

The England international may be in for a disappointing campaign if he does stay at Spurs, as Ryan Sessegnon’s arrival could see him given more opportunities by Mauricio Pochettino. Ben Davies is expected to be first-choice at left-back too, so Rose might be in for a battle for playing time in 2019/20.
