Report: Tottenham prodigy desperate for first-team minutes denied loan move in transfer window

|

Troy Parrott was reportedly close to a loan move to Dundalk FC in the summer transfer window before Tottenham pulled the plug on a deal.

The Irish Mirror report that the 18-year-old attacker was approached the League of Ireland giants last year over a potential deal that would have seen Parrott return to his homeland for the season, but UEFA’s homegrown quota for the Champions League saw Spurs turn down the proposal despite their openness to the deal going through.

Parrott has struggled massively for first-team minutes this season despite the Republic of Ireland international being the club’s only fit and natural centre-forward since injuries to Harry Kane and Heung-min Son ruled the Tottenham duo out for the foreseeable future, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the teenager has played well below 100 senior minutes this season.

Does Troy Parrott need a loan move?

Yes

No

The attacker has been left out of the matchday squad for multiple weeks now despite the attacking problems that have plagued Tottenham in recent weeks, and Parrott could well depart the club in the summer transfer window with first-team options seemingly not coming any time sooner at the club with Jose Mourinho offering next to nothing for the youngster.

Parrott was linked with a move away from Tottenham in the winter transfer window with The Sun reporting that the likes of Burnley, Charlton and FC Twente were all interested in a loan deal for the talented youngster, yet just like Dundalk, the attacker’s age ensured that UEFA ruling denied a transfer.

The Dublin-born striker is in desperate need of first-team football to develop his qualities which have shown through in youth football this season, and although this campaign will likely see Parrott sit in the reserves, the summer could see the teenager head out on a much-needed loan spell.
