Report: Tottenham near third summer signing, player ‘close to being transferred’

|

According to Pepe Elias of Mucho Deporte, Tottenham are nearing a move for Dani Olmo. The report states that an agreement has been made with his agent and the player is ‘close to being transferred’ for £22m.

After waiting 18 months for a signing, Olmo could be Spurs’ third acquisition of the summer, having landed the signatures of Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele of Olympique Lyonnais.

Olmo could be a long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen, with the 21-year-old’s natural position being a central attacking-midfield role. He’s also capable of playing as a deep-lying midfielder and out wide.

The Spanish u21 international has made 102 appearances in all competitions for Dinamo Zagreb, scoring (26) and creating (21) 47 goals. Olmo shone last season, particularly in the Europa League, contributing four goals in 10 games.

In 896 minutes of European football, Olmo made 19 chances (one-per-49 minutes), made 29 successful dribbles (one-per-31 minutes), averaged 34 passes-per-game and averaged a tackle (10) or interception (8) every 50 minutes.

Tottenham look to be signing a player with great potential amid uncertainty over Eriksen’s future. Dani Ceballos of Real Madrid and Giovani Lo Celso of Real Betis are also on the radar, but the report suggests Olmo might be the next player through the door.
