Report: Tottenham monitoring midfielder, Pochettino has competition from Serie A duo

|

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are still monitoring Hector Herrera but face stiff competition from AC Milan and Inter Milan for his signature. The FC Porto midfielder has been linked with a move to Spurs for some time, but increased interest could see Herrera convinced to move to Italy.

The 28-year-old had spent the entirely of his career in Mexico until he joined Porto in 2013, previously playing for the likes of CF Pachuca, CD Cuautla, Tampico Madero. He’s gone on to make 228 appearances in all competitions for Porto, but his future is uncertain while his contract winds down.

Herrera’s agent has not ruled out the prospect of the midfielder staying at the Estádio do Dragão, but time is running out for Porto to tie him down to an extension. If Tottenham are looking to sign the 28-year-old, they won’t have to break the bank to bring him to London this summer.

With Mousa Dembele leaving the club for the Chinese Super League and Victor Wanyama struggling with injuries and having an uncertain future, Spurs have been linked with many central midfielders. They’ve long been credited with an interest in Herrera, but time will tell if they make a move when his deal expires.
