Report: Tottenham may have to pay £44m and £3m wages to sign AS Roma man

|

According to Turkish Football, Tottenham are interested in Cengiz Under and could battle Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton for his signature. The 21-year-old forward joined AS Roma from Basaksehir in 2017 and has gone on to make 65 appearances in all competitions, scoring (14) and creating (13) 27 goals.

Under has been in fine form over the last 12 months, contributing 17 goals in 33 games last season. In Serie A, the Turkish international created 32 chances, 22 successful dribbles (50%), averaged 19 passes-per-game with 78% accuracy and made 39 shots with 31% accuracy.

According to Global Sports Salaries, the average wage at Roma is £2.8m-a-year/£54.6k-per-week. Under is a key player at the Stadio Olimpico and should take home more than the club average as result, meaning Tottenham may have to pay more than £3m-a-year in wages.

Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Football Italia) revealed that Everton had a £24.8m bid rejected by Roma as they considered the bid inadequate. Turkish Football say the 21-year-old has a £44m asking price which would make him Spurs’ most expensive signing. Whether Mauricio Pochettino can win the four-way race for Under’s signature remains to be seen this summer, but they appear to be keen.
