Report: Tottenham may have to pay £17.1m to sign 25-year-old after scout reports

|

According to Aksam (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham are interested in Vedat Muriqi and could pay £17.1m to sign the 25-year-old. Spurs have been scouting Muriqi this season and have been impressed with his performances for Fenerbahce and the Kosovo national team.

After releasing Fernando Llorente at the end of his contract and selling Vincent Janssen to Monterrey over the summer, Spurs are in need of another centre-forward. Mauricio Pochettino has Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son at his disposal but no cover on the bench.

Muriqi could be a solution to Tottenham’s problems, having scored and created eight goals in 11 Super Lig games, but Fener might be reticent letting him leave midway through the season. The 25-year-old joined from C. Rizespor over the summer and should see out his debut season at the Şükrü Saracoğlu.

Will Tottenham be active in the January window?

Yes! We have to be!

No! Daniel Levy won't spend

Fener are second in the Super Lig with 20 points from 11 games, coming off the back of three wins from four, so Muriqi won’t want to leave while in a title race. Victory over Yeni Malatyaspor on Sunday could see them go top of the table too, so Tottenham may be barking up the wrong tree.
