Report: Tottenham have competition from Leicester City for 20-year-old’s signature

|

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham have competition from Leicester City for Riccardo Sottil’s signature. The 20-year-old was being scouted by Leicester representatives during Italy u21’s 3-0 win over Iceland and got himself on the scoresheet for good measure. Corriere dello Sport say a January move could be in the works which is bad news for Spurs.

The Lilywhites were linked with Sottil in September and scouted the Fiorentina winger against Atalanta. He’s made eight appearances in all competitions this season but is yet to get off the mark for the Violas. Given Tottenham have Lucas Moura, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Heung-min Son at their disposal, Sottil would likely be one for the future.

Spurs also have Jack Clarke to return from Leeds either in January or next summer, so signing another wide-man would be a strange move. Corriere dello Sport don’t mention the North London club in their report, so they may not be making him a No.1 target in the winter transfer window. Time will tell what transpires in the coming weeks.

Do Tottenham need Riccardo Sottil?

Yes

No

Sottil starred in Fiorentina’s reserves, contributing 46 goals in 72 games for the Primavera before being promoted to the first-team, so he clearly has potential.
