Report: Tottenham eye €22.5m ‘generational talent’ that Mourinho is ‘very interested’ in

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland despite the Norwegian attacker joining the Bundesliga club in January.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Jose Mourinho is ‘very interested’ in the teenage striker, who this season has exploded onto the scene as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football, with Haaland already bagging 40 goals and nine assists across all competitions this campaign.

Before his €22.5m (£20.8m) move to Dortmund as reported by The Guardian, Haaland was one of the most sought after names in football with the likes of Manchester United and Juventus all reportedly keen on the former RB Salzburg sensation, yet it was the Bundesliga giants who won out in the end, and the 19-year-old striker hasn’t put a foot wrong since.

'When he scored the goal the game finished for him. After that I needed 11 players for my defensive organisation and I had just 10.'

Described as a “generational talent” by Taste of Football, Haaland took to German football like a duck to water, becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in his first two league games as well as scoring a brace in Dortmund’s Champions League Round of 16 tie against PSG, his 10th in the competition this season.

Despite joining Dortmund two months ago, clubs are still reportedly keen in signing Haaland once the summer transfer window opens for business, yet for Tottenham, any attempt to sign the Norwegian superstar could prove fruitless given that Juventus remain interested in the teenager as well as Spurs’ uncertainty of Champions League football next season.

The pull of playing in the Premier League and under Mourinho could be a tempting one for Haaland, yet with the striker establishing himself as a Champions League calibre player at just 19, Tottenham face a momentous task at trying to lure the Dortmund attacker to north London, especially with several clubs likely to be circling the forward already this summer.
