Report: Tottenham extremely interested in highly-rated teenager, glowing scouting reports

|

According to Charlie Wyett of The Sun, Tottenham are extremely interested in Max Aarons and could make a move for the Norwich City defender this summer. Out-of-form Kieran Trippier has been linked with a move to Everton while the out-of-favour Serge Aurier could be sold for 50% of what Spurs paid for him in 2017. Aarons could be brought in as a replacement.

He’s made 33 Championship appearances this season, scoring and creating seven goals. Aarons has created 25 chances and has made 46 successful dribbles. The defender also averages a tackle (56) or interception (41) every 30 minutes and has been given glowing scouting reports when watched.

John Cross of the Mirror says Tottenham will have to pay £15m to procure his signature, although Norwich are keen to keep the 19-year-old at Carrow Road. But with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs interested in Aarons, the Canaries have a tough task in fending off suitors.

City are on course for promotion to the Premier League as they currently sit top of the Championship table, four points clear of second place with eight games remaining. Aarons could be playing top-flight football with Norwich next season as a result and may feel his chances of game time could diminish at a bigger club.

The teenager only rose through the youth ranks to the first-team eight months ago and has been a regular ever since. It’s unlikely he would immediately be first-choice at right-back for Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal, however.
