Tottenham Hotspur fans will be able to breathe a huge sigh of relief regarding their transfer pursuit of Tanguy Ndombele if the latest reports are led to be believed.

According to Telefoot (via L’Equipe), a deal for the Olympique de Lyonnais midfield ace is thought to be all-but-done and is expected to be concluded in the next few days.

It is claimed Spurs will hand over an initial €63million (£56.5m) for the 22-year-old France international, although that figure will rise should he hit certain milestones and clauses included in the deal and is expected to sign a five-year contract.

It will be the first major transfer that Mauricio Pochettino has been able to make in 18 months and one that can help Tottenham go to the next level – Jack Clarke’s looks set to go through as well, although he will return to Leeds United on loan (Guardian).

There has been a lot of back-and-forth in regards to making a deal with Lyon for Ndombele recently, with a number of conflicting stories having been released over the last few weeks.

Sky Sports had claimed that we had agreed to a £65million deal for Ndombele a matter of days ago, however, Jean-Michel Aulas appeared to have swept that notion from right under our feet and suggested that nothing had been finalised.

“An offer of 70m euros? If I wait another eight days, it will be 80m euros. Tottenham’s first proposal was 45m euros. Since then we’ve been talking, nothing’s done,” he said, speaking to RMC (via Football.London).

“I can assure you of that. But we’re in no hurry either. It’s not done. Tanguy has shown these qualities in the French team, he is one of our best players. How much is he worth? I don’t know, but it’s worth over 45m.”

Spurs can now rest easy at the fact that a new big signing is on his way to the club this summer and should look to take the momentum from this deal and use it to try and secure at least another, if not a couple more, big transfers ahead of the upcoming campaign.

  • Fuck this is getting boring now for weeks now all you reporters can say it’s getting closer its nearly done. It Won’t be long. Why don’t you all shut up until he is holding up the shirt or scarf

  • Seeing is believing, after all, this is a Tottenham.

Paying this much money on a player unproven in the Prem is one big gamble, I do hope he lives up to the reputation he has. We have had so many failures in recent times signing the so called “next big thing” or players from other leagues who were proven in those respective leagues only to fail in the Prem.

Try and extend Alderwiereld’s contract. Sign a defender (up and coming), a fullback, another 2 midfielders and a striker would be my hopes/suggestions.

    But then, this is Spurs!

  • If he eventually does sign i don’t care if he has a beard or a boil on hes arse as long as he is as good as they say he is C.O.Y.S
