Report Suggests Club Will Offer Experienced German International A New Deal To Scupper Potential Spurs Interest In January

|

With a spike on the January transfer window rumour mill given the lull in Premier League fixtures, there is actually one claim being made that would make some sense for Tottenham Hotspur, and that concerns an apparent interest in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

The Daily Mail have claimed recently that Chelsea are now prepared to offer the 26-year-old a new contract as he continues to come back to full fitness following a groin injury, in order to stave off possible interest from both Spurs and Manchester City.

The German international has only featured once for Frank Lampard so far in the campaign of 2019/20, and that was September’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, so with well stated defensive concerns at White Hart Lane – both on a performance front as well as contractual situation – Rudiger’s experience in our top flight would make him a sensible option possible, even if it did more hang on understandable lack of game time at the minute.

Given his age and experience, we could certainly do far worse, presuming we do have a real interest here.

Would Rudiger Be A Viable Option At Spurs?
