Report: Spurs “likely” to make move for World Cup winner

|

Tottenham Hotspur are now in a position that they are “likely” to make a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, according to football.london.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a move to the other side of London for some time now and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Jose Mourinho could get hold of Giroud free of charge.

At the age of 33, the Frenchman still knows where the goal is and has found the net three times in 13 appearances, before the season stuttered to a halt due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Although officials gave a date of April 30th for football to potentially return, it looks unlikely that will happen because of the number of cases increasing in the UK.

Would you bring Olivier Giroud to Tottenham?

Yes

No

According to football.london, Giroud has remained on Mourinho’s wishlist and a move back to north London is now a real possibility after playing for Arsenal for six seasons.

With the problems we’ve had in the striking department this season, it would be sensible to go in for Giroud.

Although it is another question entirely as to whether Daniel Levy would be willing to pay him the £110,000-a-week salary that he is currently on with the Blues, according to Spotrac.

If he came to Spurs, he would be at least the fourth best-paid player at 33 years old. Whether this is the best interest for us, is another thing entirely. Despite admitting that he is not happy being second best, he will have to work hard to get in ahead of Harry Kane.
