Report: Rotation finally available at right-back with key-man’s return

|

Tottenham fans, you finally have a reason to get excited. Despite all three of the club’s new signings, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, suffering with injuries this season and throwing away a two-goal lead twice in three games, things are set to improve.

The reason for that is because right-back is about to become less of a problem, and with a bit of luck we won’t have to see Davinson Sanchez holding the fort on the right ever again, and that’s as a result of the returning Juan Foyth, who seems to be fit and available.

That’s come as the Lilywhites have failed to mention him in any of their injury updates, only mentioning the likes of Lo Celso and Sessegnon on Twitter. However, whether or not that means Foyth is going to be thrust in from the start tomorrow against Leicester is another matter.

It doesn’t seem smart to throw the Argentine in after seven weeks out for his first start of the competitive season away at the King Power Stadium. However, if that’s what Mauricio Pochettino opts to do then the fans will certainly be behind the young versatile defender.

It looks like the Carabao Cup clash with Southampton in the week would be a more appropriate time to chance it with Foyth, giving him a limited amount of minutes before a potential full return the following week against Southampton.

The youngster has the ability to feature as both a right-back and a centre-back, but whether or not he’ll get the chance in the middle anytime soon is yet to be seen. He filled in superbly on the right at the back end of last season and went on to feature there in the Copa America with Argentina, so he should provide some much-needed rotation on the right now he’s back.
