Report: Preston North End 0-3 Spurs

|
Spurs comfortably secured their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday evening.
A tepid first half was relatively uneventful, but Spurs saw a few openings early on. A half-cleared free-kick found its way to Dejan Kulusevski, who saw an effort blocked in the penalty area before Heung-min Son had a shot from the edge of the area comfortably claimed by Freddie Woodman in the Preston goal.
Woodman then thwarted Son from a similar distance just before the half-hour mark, and a dangerous Preston free-kick found its way to Liam Lindsay in the Spurs penalty area, but his miscued effort was blocked and the visitors cleared the danger. Kulusevski then hit a decent strike over the bar from a Spurs corner, before the half drew to a close with the game goalless.
In the second half, the game slipped away from the hosts almost instantly, as Preston failed to heed Son’s earlier warnings and gave him too much space for him to curl past Woodman from distance.
Perisic then saw a header tipped over from Clement Lenglet’s cross before Son doubled his tally for the night to turn and fire Spurs 2-0 up just inside the area on 69 minutes.
In the closing stages, there was still time for Arnaut Danjuma to grab a debut goal off the bench as he side-footed Kulusevski’s cutback home to send Spurs into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
