Report: Midfielder could leave Tottenham, Pochettino will consider selling

|

According to Ian Tucker of The Sun, Christian Eriksen could leave Tottenham this summer as Mauricio Pochettino will consider selling the Danish international in order to ‘revamp’ the playing squad for next season. Spurs would ideally like to keep Eriksen, but with little progress being made with a contract extension his future lies away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Real Madrid are interested in the 27-year-old, but The Sun added that Inter Milan may have entered the race for his signature. Sporting director Ausilio is reportedly scouting the midfielder and watched him in the Champions League against Manchester City. It’s hard to see Inter winning the race for Eriksen’s signature, however, as the Nerazzurri aren’t exactly a step-up from Tottenham.

Inter are currently third in Serie A, 27 points adrift of leaders Juventus with seven games remaining and don’t have any pedigree in Europe anymore. The Italian outfit were eliminated in the group stages of the Champions League and last-16 of the Europa League, so why would Eriksen leave Spurs for Inter?

Tottenham are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and won the first leg without conceding a goal. If Eriksen leaves this summer, it would surely only be for a top European side challenging for major honours.
