Report: Midfielder could join Tottenham on loan

|

According to AS (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham could sign Dani Ceballos on loan. The 22-year-old could be on his way out of Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane can’t guarantee him regular first-team football next season. Spurs are looking to capitalise on the situation, potentially with a view to sign him permanently in 2020 if Real are willing to let him go.

Ceballos joined Los Blancos from Real Betis in 2017 and has gone on to make 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating seven goals. The Spanish international, who featured in the Nations League and recently won the u21 European Championships, made 34 appearances last season but only 19 of them were starts.

Tottenham have already strengthened their midfield with the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele and have been linked with a move for Giovani Lo Celso, but Ceballos could be a third addition to the engine room. He’s a combative but also highly creative player and seldom gives the ball away.

AS believe the Lilywhites are keen on a loan deal than permanent transfer this summer as it’s lower risk, but whether the 22-year-old is open to joining Spurs for a year remains to be seen.
