Report: Midfielder could join Tottenham for £12.9m

|

According to Marca (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham are one of five clubs interested in Victor Camarasa who is on-loan at Cardiff City this season. Spurs are in the market for a central midfielder and could consider the 24-year-old as a value-for-money acquisition.

Marca say Real Betis would accept a bid of £12.9m for the former Spain u21 international, but the stiff competition for his signature could be an issue. Tottenham reportedly have Cardiff, Everton, West Ham United and Leicester City keen on acquiring his services and his statistics may reveal why.

Camarasa has made 27 Premier League appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring and creating eight goals. The midfielder averages 28 passes-per-game with 74% accuracy, has created 43 chances, made 28 successful dribbles (55%), won 18 aerial duels (42%) and has averaged a tackle (26) or interception (28) every 41 minutes.

The Spaniard doesn’t retain possession well enough to be in a Tottenham midfield, but he does have some decent creative attributes. Regardless, it’s unlikely Spurs will make a move for Camarasa this summer. Replacing Mousa Dembele is a priority, but finding the right personnel is difficult. He’s left big shoes to fill.
