Report: Mauricio Pochettino leaves out £60k-per-week Tottenham man from pre-season tour

|

According to Sam Wallace of the Telegraph, Danny Rose has been left out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour in Singapore due to his uncertain future. The 29-year-old is open to leaving Spurs this summer but doesn’t have a suitor willing to meet his £25m asking price.

Nevertheless, Mauricio Pochettino is prepping Rose for a departure by leaving him out of the squad. The £60k-per-week defender will stay behind in England to be offered out. There hasn’t been much interest in the last few weeks, but the news of Rose’s availability should put some clubs on red alert.

Everton were linked with a potential swap deal for Rose that would have seen Lucas Digne going in the opposite direction, but it was hard to see the Toffees offloading their first-choice left-back given how much he impressed in 2018/19.

Ben Davies is likely to be first-choice at left-back next season, having recently signed a long-term deal with Tottenham, but it’s unknown who will be his backup. Ryan Sessegnon has been closely linked with a move to Spurs but little progress has been made this summer.

There are only three weeks of the summer transfer window remaining, so Daniel Levy has to get his act in gear.
