Report: Mauricio Pochettino is ‘open to offers’ for £70k-per-week Tottenham man

|

According to Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, Mauricio Pochettino is ‘open to offers’ for Serge Aurier. The problem is that there hasn’t been much interest in the £70k-per-week defender this summer. AS Monaco were linked with Aurier in May but nothing has since come of the rumours.

The Ivorian international found himself on the periphery last season, amassing only 563 minutes of Premier League football. He’s still keen to stay at Tottenham, however. Unfortunately for him, Pochettino is looking to cash in on all the deadwood in the first-team, and Aurier is one of many who could be sold as a result.

The 26-year-old has made 41 appearances since joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017, but he’s failed in his bid to be a regular at right-back and could find himself behind Juan Foyth in the pecking order next season. Even if Spurs want to sell Aurier, they are having trouble locating a suitor, so they may be stuck with him regardless.

Tottenham paid £23m for the right-back two years ago and may struggle getting anything close this summer. Previous reports even suggested they could accept as little as £11m.
