Report: Manchester United identify £75k-per-week Tottenham man as ‘top-class replacement’

|

Christian Eriksen is expected to leave Tottenham after recently admitting in an interview that he was considering a move this summer. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, but he appears to have a suitor from the Premier League too.

According to James Robson of the Evening Standard, Manchester United have identified the £75k-per-week Tottenham playmaker as a ‘top-class replacement’ for Paul Pogba. The Danish international has 12 months remaining on his deal and may be sold rather than allowed to leave for nothing next year.

Pogba has an uncertain future at United, amid links with Real Madrid, and the Red Devils believe Eriksen could be his successor at Old Trafford. The Tottenham midfielder scored and created 27 goals in 51 games in all competitions in 2018/19. Pogba also contributed 27 goals for United.

Real have been linked with the French international, but whether they would lodge a bid after shelling out £124m on Eden Hazard remains to be seen. It’s unknown if Eriksen is open to joining the Manchester giants either. He’s talked up the prospect of joining Los Blancos, but there hasn’t been any official approach as of yet.
