Report: European club to ‘listen to offers’ for £31.5m-rated Tottenham target Mourinho admires

AS Roma are reportedly ‘willing to listen to offers’ for 22-year-old winger Cengiz Under at the end of this season, with Tottenham one of the sides interested in the Turkish international.

According to CalcioMercato, the Italian club are ready to cash in on the attacker after a disappointing season for the former Basaksehir star with Under only managing two goals in all competitions this campaign for the Roman club as stats from Transfermarkt show, resulting in the youngster being linked with a move away from Roma in the January transfer window, and Tottenham are one of the sides interested in the forward.

Turkish outlet Gunes reported via The Daily Mail earlier this month that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the youngster, and that should Spurs qualify for next season’s Champions League, Tottenham will make a move for the unwanted Roma attacker, who has a Transfermarkt valuation of £31.5m.

Will Jose Mourinho regret not signing a striker?

Yes

No

With Tottenham spending big on Steven Bergwijn in the January transfer window, with BBC Sport reporting that the Dutch winger cost £27m, Spurs are in no shortage of wide-attackers in the first-team squad with the north London club also boasting the likes of Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela in the senior team, which is why a move for Under makes little to no sense.

Although the Turkish international has had an impressive spell in Roma in his two years in the Italian capital, injuries have dampened a promising start to life in Serie A as records from Transfermarkt show, and with Tottenham already having a surplus of wingers at the club, an extra body in that position could cause problems.

Whilst it is a high honour for Under to be a player who is admired by Mourinho, the Turkish international would serve to bring nothing Tottenham don’t already have in the first-team, and with the defence continuing got cause problems, funds should be spent elsewhere rather than on an area of the pitch that is already well-stocked.
