Speculation linking Danny Rose with a departure from Tottenham Hotspur this summer is certainly not new, neither is the long standing rumours of our interest in Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

It’s not exactly a ground breaking report from the Sun but I’m not sure you’d associate them with that kind of coverage, but in any event, this weekend they linked both deals together and claimed quite confidently that manager Mauricio Pochettino had identified Sessegnon as the long term replacement for Rose.

Naturally it builds on the previous Sessegnon speculation and it also hugely leans on one subjective view of Rose’s own words about his future from his recent interview.

The main angle of the report though is the claim made about his £80,000 week wage as that would obviously be a huge burden for a lot of clubs to take on, despite all the claims made about Spurs not paying top dollar for players.

They also hint that we’d possibly look to breakeven on the player swap suggestion, by only looking for around £35million for Rose, which is one of the main fees suggested for Sessegnon.

  • I would be gutted to see Rose go, he was back to his best at the end of the season, there are other players that will not take Spurs forward that we should get rid of – Trippier, Dier, Wanyama, Lamela, even Eriksen, we have a number of fringe players also, that lot will give us around £2000M to spen on Ndembele, Lo Celso, Sess , Ake & Arrons

  • Has anyone thought that It might be Ben Davies that has become surplus to requirements and not Rose? Poch is no fool and knows that Rose is one of the best LBs in the league so Rose leaving makes no sense. It would not surprise me if both Rose and Davies stayed and Rose or Sessegnon is used in a more advanced position. Rose will stay and if we lose one then I am sure it will be Ben.
On the right hand side we need to move Trippier and Aurier. Replace them with from palace and Semado from Barcelona. In the middle I think the end has come for Wanyama and possibly even Dier. If they both leave we have space for 3 new guys in the holding position with Dembele already in China. NDombele is the hot favourite along with Celso but with the home grown player rule in force I don’t think these will both happen. If CE ends up going then one of 2 things will happen. Bale and Isco will come in a straight swap or we will take the money and run. I don’t see Beek coming to us as there is only so much money available to Poch. Jame Maddison would be ideal and Jack from Leeds would be one to bring through.
Let’s wait and see what happens but I think we will have a few weeks to wait yet. In Poch we trust. COYS !!!!
