Report Claims Spurs Transfer Deal Hinges On Eriksen Sale – Poch Has Apparently Said As Much

|

There has been a claim in Spanish media this week that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has personally called speculated Real Betis target Giovano Lo Celso to reassure him of our interest given the lack of firm progress so far in our summer transfer dealings.

We all know the speculation that surrounds the 23-year-old attacking midfielder and he has been a regular fixture on the rumour mill over the last month or more.

£70m Is A Popular Fee For Spurs This Summer – Report Sets Targets Price

With talk of an £88million release fee at Real Betis, recent speculation has implied £70 would be the magic number to get a deal through and with talk that they have already turned down £35million as our opening gambit, Spanish outlet El Confidencial have claimed that Poch personally rang the player and told him that we couldn’t meet his fee unless Christian Eriksen moves on.

Personally, I fail to see how that would be true as I can’t see the player leaking it as it muddies the waters should he stay with them. I don’t believe Poch would ring unless they had permission to speak (that’s what agents exist for) and even if Poch did talk to him, I don’t believe such a claim would ever be made.

Not least because of Premier League money, Champions League money and the way finances on transfers are worked out over the course of a contract.

The mere mention of Eriksen here gives me a whiff of something, can real football return please?
